Wiidesign is a journey through websites and creative stuff by Willy Nielsen. It all started in 1996 when I realized the internet is a great place to find info and meeting people with the same interests as myself. It soon developed into active work online in 1998, when I started creating commercial and personal websites.
Since then my interest has grown, and I love web design – both Flash and CSS sites. It’s great to see the creative work from people all over the world, and how different the result of this work can be. Personally I’ve always considered funtionality above everything else. To have it all, is hard to accomplish, but we all learn more each day.
Wii has been my initials at work since 1997.
In 2001 I registered Wii.dk as my portfolio site, which for years was one of the only active websites using Wii in the name. In April 2006 when the name Wii was announced as Nintendos new gaming console, my statistics rose by 800%, as my site was number 1 in all search engines. That soon changed and in November 2006 I sold it to Nintendo through a domain broker, the price is private, but let’s say I was very happy.
The leaf you see in the logo, and here on this page, is part of the new concept of Wiidesign. Created using Adobe Illustrator, it’s not about being accurate to a natural leaf, but more an abstract version of it. The leaf I feel matches the simplicity of the website.
This is a collection of some of the links, awards and recognitions that I received for my work. Please let me know of any broken links, since they may change from time to time.
